SLOW DOWN - Take Time to Smell the Roses....

Or to read a good book, give your honey a smooch, read a story to your child, sit on your porch and enjoy a cup of coffee.

For the first time in weeks, I don't have any where I have to be on a Saturday morning. Yes, the house needs cleaning and laundry needs done - those things are always there for me. I'm sitting here drinking my second cup of coffee and I feel guilty that I'm not mopping the kitchen floor already and laundry isn't going and my bed isn't made.

WHY? Why do I feel that way and why do so many other women with hectic schedules feel guilty about taking some time to just - be still and enjoy some of the simple joys of life? We have some odd requirement that if everything isn't crossed of our "to-do" list that we don't deserve some time to just enjoy a few minutes of quiet.

Silly isn't it?

Yet...I sit here, just about in a panic because I'm not multi-tasking. Did you know multi-tasking doesn't really exist? We really aren't capable of doing multiple things well and give each task our best effort. My old therapist told me that.

So what are you doing to enjoy your life today?

(I need to get the laundry going!)

It will get done. I think we can spend more emotional energy fretting about what needs to be done than by waiting to do it when we are ready.
I used to make daily lists, now I am doing it weekly. It makes a longer list, but a lot more time to do things when I feel like it.

Knew I wasn't 'normal', lol I am good at taking time, of course I call myself a bum, so maybe I feel 5% guilty about it. I am also a procrastinator by nature.
Like you said, the laundry and floor are not going anywhere, and delaying the cleaning a few hours won't make the job any harder than it is!

Hi Donna!

I did not know you have a blog and loved reading about Brave Girls Camp!

Now that my kids are grown, I don't have that overwhelming need to multi-task anymore. It took me awhile to get there, but I don't feel guilty if I spend time in the sewing room instead of the laundry room :)

Looking forward to hearing more about your BGC adventures. Oh, did you take SR2? I'd love to hear about that too.

I just realized how long this comment is and will stop now :)

It's sad that I feel like I could have written this! It's been one of my goals this year to try to do this more... but it's harder than it seems!
